What do novels and the month of November have in common? November is the National Novel Writing Month and you are invited to participate!NaNoWriMo .org is urging everyone to participate in the annual writing event that begins every November 1st and ends on Midnight of November 30th. The purpose of NaNoWriMo.org is to encourage anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel but was intimidated by the idea to schedule through out the month time for writing a 175 page, or 50,000 word novel by Midnight of November 30th, 2003.
Do not worry about being inadequate. NaNoWriMo .org believes that by attempting to write 50,000 words in one month, you will yourself permission to make mistakes and judge your writing less harshly. By doing this you will put creativity before perfection. This will help the average writer to actually accomplish the daunting task of writing a novel of this size without being overwhelmed or obsess over the turn out of the final product.
The November of 2002 saw 14,000 participants with over 2100 people finishing their 50,000 word novel by midnight. Will you be one of the few to finish a novel in November?
Sign Ups :Sign ups begin on the first of October and the actual writing of the novel begins on November 1st. To be counted on the official list of winners, the 50,000 word novel must be finished by Midnight of November 30th, when it will be counted by a robotic web-based team of word counters.
Are you up for the challenge? NaNoWriMo .org makes it much easier to pace yourself and actually complete a novel. Knowing that others all around the world are spending this month writing 50,000 words will give you support to be one of the many who finish.
